Through the lens of Dendera astrology from the magnificent writings of Normandi Ellis, Sagittarius is associated with Goddess Astarte.

Astarte's name means Enduring Star.

In homes, she was represented by a simple, woman-shaped clay figurine with, instead of legs, a tapered base which was inserted in the floor of the home.

She was also depicted as a naked, curly-haired goddess standing on her sacred lion and holding lilies and serpents in upraised hands. According to one source, she was "the force of life, experienced as benevolent and enduring, found in flocks of cattle and groves of trees, evoked in childbirth and in planting time."

Here is an overview of Astarte, a complex and very ancient Goddess, who is seen adapted over an over throughout the Levant, Egypt, Greece and Rome:

In Egypt she is Daughter of Ra & Wife of Seth. She represents wild, deep mystery of earth and animals. Astarte is often depicted naked and bareback upon a horse. She is associated with Sekhmet through her lion aspect – a Goddess of War, riding the chariot with the bow and arrow in her hand (Sagittarius, who Sekhmet represents in Linda Star Wolf’s “Shamanic Egyptian Astrology”.

Astarte is associated with Venus as Goddess of fertility & beauty. Hathor- holding Lotus flowers and embodying spiritual truth. When she became her aspect of the Sun, Queen of the Morning Star, she became a Goddess of War. As the Evening Star, when she took on her role as a Moon Goddess, the “Queen of the Evening Star,” she became a Goddess of passionate love- an embodiment of Goddess Isis.

This beautiful Strawberry moon in the fire sign of Sagittarius drops us into the energies of releasing the aspect of our shadow that we are currently working with, so to cultivate a greater capacity of acceptance. It’s named “strawberry” as a symbol of the beautiful fruits blossoming in various parts of the world at this time.

Sagittarius represents wandering, exploring, adventure and the unknown. It rules the quest for spiritual truth.

Acceptance opens the flood gates - and Full Moons are for releasing, meaning that this may be a powerful time to release old spiritual beliefs or dogmas that no longer support you.

With the Sun in Gemini (the opposite of Sagittarius, which is what creates a ‘full moon) we have a bubbly lightness in the air- it’s the season of socializing, open communication and the absorption of new information.
